Once you've established exactly what your eye shape is,
you know what technique to use to achieve the look that's best for you. Some of
the more commonly known eye shapes are hooded, close-set eyes, wide-set eyes,
round eyes, protruding, and the list kind of goes on.
Techniques For MakeUp
There are times you can even have a combination of two
or three different of these eye shapes. So it's important you know what
technique to adapt to achieve your look.
To start with, there are three parts of your eye that
you need to know which actually define your eye shape. Its lid, crease, and
brow bone. Lid or mobile lid as we call it is the area where you actually do
your eye shadow application. Which is this?
Now, this part of your skin or your eyes we call it
mobile lid because you as you blink this part gets visible. When your eyes are
open you see a slight crease above the lid that is the crease area and above
the crease, you have a slightly bony structure. This is your brow bone.
Eye Shadow
It's very important you know where all of these three
are placed so accordingly you do your eye shadow application. Monolith as the
name suggests does not have a visible crease area and that's the reason why you
feel there is just one lid.
Monolid Eye
It's very important for a monolid eye you create an illusion of a crease which is with a darker matte brown eye shadow you draw in
a crease and create that illusion and then you do your eye shadow application
here.
Hooded Eyes
Case of a hooded eye, its a very common eye shape
actually, if you notice around the skin on your brow or your brow bones it
starts dropping down and it covers your mobile lid so in case of a hooded eye,
you have to make sure your eye shadow application is done higher than the
crease area.
That way when your eyes are open and when as you blink,
the eye shadow shows up. The technique that you use for wide-set eyes is an
absolute no-no for the close-set eyes.
Wide Set Eye
For a wide set eye, you will always use a slightly
darker color on the inside corner of your eye. You can even smoke out or draw
in your coal towards the inside corner of the eye that will further close the
eyes, and it will bring the eyes to close.
Closed Set Eye
In case of a closed set eye, as the name suggests, it's
already too close to the bridge of your nose so you need to take it away. You
create this illusion by applying a highlighter or a lighter color on the inside
corner of the eye.
Round Eyes
Round eyes again as the name suggests your eyes are too
round. In such a case you need to create an illusion of an almond shape by
bringing out your eyeliner, applying your eye shadows, and using it actually to
contour your eyes.
In case of a round eye please remember not to tight line too much, and in case you do decide to tight line, wing out your eyeliner.
Because if you do a tight line on your lower lashline and your upper line and
you are going to further emphasize the roundness of your eye.
Protruding Eye
Protruding eye is actually the opposite of a deep-set
eye. In case of a protruding eye, please make sure you never apply a
highlighter or a shimmer based product right on your lid because if you do so it
will catch more light and make your eyes appear more protruding.
Deep Set Eyes
Deep Set Eyes, as the name suggests, your eyes are
placed deeper into the socket. It's important for eye shape like this you use
lighter colors on your eyelid and not going with very heavy or dark colors.
It will make your eyes appear deeper Downturned Or
Droopy eyes, as the name, suggests, in this case, the outside corner of your eyes
the skin droops down or your brow bones are shaped such that your eyes appear
droopy.
It's important in case of a droopy eye you give a lift
to the eye and give an illusion of a slightly lifted eye Upturned eye is the
opposite of a droopy eye in this case the outside corner of your eye is already
lifted.
In this case, you need to make sure that you don't wing
out your eyeliner too much because it will pull out your eye even more. So
that was brief on various different eye shapes and lucky for you guys at
Glamrs we are coming up with a series of makeup application techniques for
different eye shapes.
